XRP and Solana Price Outlook Before SEC CLARITY Act Roundtable on April 16

Nathan Sinclair by Nathan Sinclair

xrp solana price outlook sec clarity act roundtable april 16 thumbnail

XRP and Solana traders are watching the week of April 16 as two separate regulatory threads converge in Washington: the SEC’s next scheduled roundtable and the ongoing Senate consideration of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. With XRP at $1.36 and Solana at $85.48, both assets sit in a market defined by extreme fear, and any policy signal could shift sentiment quickly.

What Is Actually Happening on April 16, and Why It Matters

The SEC announced on April 2, 2026 that its April 16 roundtable will focus on options market structure, not directly on crypto asset classification. The published agenda lists opening remarks from Commissioner Hester Peirce, Commissioner Mark Uyeda, and Jamie Selway.

Some social media sources have described the April 16 event as a CLARITY Act roundtable, but according to unconfirmed reports, no official SEC notice reviewed in this research run labels it as such. The distinction matters: traders positioning around a crypto-specific regulatory catalyst may be reacting to a mischaracterized event.

The CLARITY Act itself is a separate legislative track. H.R.3633, the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act of 2025, was introduced in the House on May 29, 2025, passed the House, and was referred to the Senate Banking Committee on September 18, 2025. It remains in committee.

Coin Center’s Peter Van Valkenburgh has called the bill “a thoughtful and comprehensive framework for digital asset markets” that “reflects meaningful bipartisan work across committees.” SEC Chairman Paul Atkins has separately stated that market participants engaging with digital assets “deserve clear regulatory rules of the road,” signaling the Commission’s broader openness to crypto-specific rulemaking.

“The CLARITY Act reflects meaningful bipartisan work across committees and incorporates important refinements that balance innovation with consumer protection and financial integrity.”

— Peter Van Valkenburgh, Coin Center

Even though the April 16 roundtable appears focused on options market structure, crypto markets have historically reacted to any SEC event featuring commissioners known for pro-clarity stances. Both Peirce and Uyeda have publicly advocated for clearer digital asset frameworks, which is why traders may still treat the date as a sentiment catalyst, similar to other upcoming crypto market events that could spark volatility.

XRP Price Outlook Ahead of the Roundtable

XRP traded at $1.36 with a 24-hour gain of 0.49% and a market capitalization of roughly $83.7 billion at the time of this research run.

Research run pricing showed XRP trading at $1.36 with a 24-hour move of +0.49%.

The modest daily move reflects a market that has not yet priced in a strong directional bet on April 16 outcomes. XRP’s 24-hour volume of $2.27 billion suggests steady but unremarkable activity heading into the event window.

For XRP specifically, the CLARITY Act’s progress through Congress matters more than the options-focused roundtable. If H.R.3633 advances in the Senate Banking Committee, it could provide the regulatory framework that has been a persistent overhang on XRP’s valuation since the original SEC enforcement action. Traders watching for pre-event positioning should note that no official agenda ties XRP to the April 16 discussion.

The broader macro backdrop adds pressure. The crypto Fear and Greed Index sat at 16, classified as Extreme Fear, during this research run. That level of risk aversion, compounded by macroeconomic pressures including rising inflation, means any regulatory headline, positive or negative, could trigger outsized moves in an already nervous market.

Solana Price Outlook and What to Watch After April 16

Solana traded at $85.48, up 1.45% over 24 hours, with a market capitalization of $49.1 billion. Its 24-hour volume of $3.26 billion outpaced XRP’s, reflecting deeper trading activity.

Solana’s ecosystem carries additional weight beyond spot price. The chain’s total value locked stood at approximately $12.8 billion, making it one of the largest DeFi ecosystems by TVL. Any regulatory clarity on whether network tokens qualify as securities or commodities under the CLARITY Act framework would have direct implications for protocols built on Solana.

Compared to XRP, Solana’s slightly stronger 24-hour performance and higher trading volume suggest marginally more active positioning ahead of mid-April. Both assets, however, are trading in a risk-off environment with the Fear and Greed Index deep in Extreme Fear territory at 16.

After April 16, the key signals to watch are whether the SEC’s options roundtable produces any language applicable to digital asset derivatives, and whether the Senate Banking Committee schedules markup sessions for H.R.3633. A concrete hearing date for the CLARITY Act would be a more material catalyst for both XRP and Solana than the roundtable itself. In a market already navigating shifting global regulatory landscapes, U.S. legislative momentum could set the tone for the rest of Q2.
