Based on a recent report, it was made known that a Microsoft Excel plugin that allows on to make bitcoin transactions directly from an Excel Spreadsheet has been developed. The news was made known via a tweet from the Bitcoin Advisory’s founder, Pierre Rochard who is also a software engineer.
Bitcoin Microsoft Excel Plugin
Rochard made it known that he has developed an Excel plugin using the Lightning Network. He further said that he was able to achieve this using a solution referred to as Neutrino, which is a product targeted at people who do not run a complete node—“light clients”. The Lightning Network Daemon (LND) is still in its beta version 0.5 and not fully released.
The discovery made by Rochard has been identified as a very important one. Reason being that a development like this is what the crypto industry needs right now. Apart from it helping with the easy adoption of crypto into an already robust technology, it further helps to bring blockchain solution closer to the mainstream audience who are still struggling with understanding it.
Plugin Development in Its Final Stages
Rochard has made it known that the technology is still in its experimental stage and work is still ongoing.
The crypto community has shown great support and interest for the technology since it was announced. Apart from commending the software engineer for his discovery, many were asking for more details on the technology. Most people were particular about the potential of the plugin and whether it adds any real value to the ecosystem.
To answer this, Rochard made it known that 99.99% of the users who participate in the finance ecosystem are making use of Microsoft Excel on a regular basis. As a result of this, the application will be having it use centred on making financial payments for goods and services as well as balancing accounts.
Although no particular date has been fixed for the official release of the Microsoft Excel plugin, however, Rochard said it is likely going to be the end of October.
