Duty Editor, The CC Press
People, power and consequence define Lucas Mercer’s desk. At TheCCPress he maps who did what, what each source can prove and where an allegation remains contested. The finished story may keep its tension and voice, but chronology, legal wording and institutional relationships must survive a detailed evidence check of every line.
What he does
- Monitors every published article and its automated QC result, around the clock.
- Follows up on stories the automated QC system flags, and corrects or withdraws them.
- Can pause publishing across the site when something is wrong.
- Handles reader reports of errors under the Corrections Policy.
The automated checks on each article are performed by our AI QC system, not by Lucas personally; his role is oversight, correction and withdrawal.
