How Strive Funded Its $81.5 Million Bitcoin Purchase
The buy landed right after a fresh round of stock sales, according to the company’s disclosure filed with the SEC.
The structure is simple: sell equity, convert the proceeds into Bitcoin. Strive turned newly issued shares into an eight-figure BTC position, as first reported by Decrypt.
It is not the firm’s first move of this kind. Strive has previously raised capital through a preferred stock offering to buy 400 Bitcoin, and it has kept adding smaller tranches, including roughly 17.76 BTC in a single recent week.
Why the Share Issuance Matters for Shareholders
Funding Bitcoin with equity is a double-edged sword. Raising capital this way avoids piling on debt, but it hands existing investors a smaller slice of the company.
That is the dilution question every shareholder now has to weigh. More shares outstanding means each one represents less of Strive, unless the Bitcoin bet pays off big enough to offset the trade.
The move also reframes how the market reads the stock. Investors buying Strive are increasingly buying leveraged exposure to Bitcoin’s price, a dynamic that already gave the Alaska Retirement Board indirect Bitcoin exposure through its Strive shares.
What the Buy Signals in a Crowded Treasury Race
An eight-figure corporate Bitcoin purchase is large enough to command attention on its own. It also slots Strive into a growing field of public companies treating BTC as a reserve asset.
That cohort keeps expanding, from Strive’s steady accumulation, including an earlier tranche of 32 BTC bought at an average price of $63,911, to newer entrants like Brazil’s OranjeBTC.
The bet is clear: Strive is wagering that Bitcoin’s upside outruns the cost of diluting its own stock. Will shareholders reward the conviction, or punish the dilution?
