Spotlight on Web3 Pets – Will 2023 Be Their Year?

Web3 Pets

Remember when you were little, and all you wanted was a pet to take care of? It felt like there was no bigger gift you could ask for, and be it a cat, a dog, a fish, or a parrot, it would change your life forever and complete you in a way nobody else could.

Well, such things do not change much. Adults are still eager to have a pet, talk about it, and have their phone gallery full of photos of their furry friends in various settings.

However, technology does change. And in a world where some have to travel a lot, and others are not able to keep a pet in their home due to their landlord or allergies, Web3 pets have come to revolutionize the idea of owning a pet while bringing color, fun, and possibly some crypto rewards in your life.

Discovering Web3

Web 3 has changed the online space fascinatingly when bringing blockchain-based software to the table. With new technologies to work with, developers did not hesitate to launch tremendous numbers of crypto projects in the past years. And things are similar when it comes to games, too.

While Web2 games can leave players without their in-game belongings if they decide to get the game down for a definite or indefinite period, things change when it comes to Web3 games.

Web3 games have brought a new way of playing to the table. With decentralized gaming, there is no central authority that has to deal with decision-making processes. Instead, besides being user-centered, blockchain games allow players to be part of the project’s governance, expressing their opinion on how the game should evolve.

Yours. Truly.

Thanks to the technology provided by Web3, such as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), pet owners can now have full control over their online pets. Thus, if it is for a game to stop working, your pet will still be safely stored in your crypto wallet. And users are more than happy to try such new technologies, as Web3 has made owning a pet even easier and more fun.

Moreover, Web3 technologies redefined the concept of ownership, as virtual pet owners can now be sure that they are the only ones holding a specific NFT and, therefore, a specific pet, and nobody else can access it unless they allow it. And thinking that you own a unique pet, be it similar to Pokémon, Tamagotchis, unicorns, or dragons, the ownership feeling is still there and challenges you to provide the best for your pet.

Welcome to the Play-to-Earn World

Once Web3 was established, blockchain-based games were no longer a surprise. And developers have tried their best to offer users the opportunity to own a pet in a blockchain game.

The evolution of Web3 gaming has allowed developers to launch many play-to-earn games, and users could not be happier to be part of such ecosystems. Furthermore, virtual pet owners are now incentivized to play as much as possible, as this can get them more rewards and new ways of improving their pet’s experience in the game.

When playing, users are rewarded with various items or can get additional crypto, thus being able to buy new items from the in-game marketplace, change their pets as they like, and improve their skills to have even more and bigger rewards.

Such practices have significant advantages for both players and developers. Players are given the opportunity to own and take care of a pet in a way as close as possible to the real-life one. When you own a pet, you make sure it has everything it needs, from food and medical care, all the way to toys or intriguing activities that will cheer it up.

With virtual pets, players can change their appearance and are sometimes required to check them periodically to ensure they have everything they could possibly need.

On the other hand, developers have the main advantage that a game’s success will let them improve it even more, develop new features and think of new ways to incentivize players. It’s a win-win situation, and it seems that everyone is benefiting from it.

Will 2023 Be the Year of Web3 Pets?

When looking at the characters from Axie Infinity, My DeFi Pet, or CryptoKitties, you can tell that they will become extremely popular among crypto enthusiasts and not only. And it is no wonder why. Web3 pets and blockchain games have everything they need to revolutionize how we currently think of gaming.

In fact, blockchain games have already gained much popularity, and My DeFi Pet is a great example. Being extremely popular in Asia and especially in the Philippines, My DeFi Pet has a chance to become the most played blockchain game in Asian countries. Furthermore, the rewards users can get are quite remarkable, which can be a significant advantage for players (if you want to learn more about how much you can win when playing My DeFi Pet, you can check the DPET to PHP price rate).

We are still seeing bear market conditions, and many crypto enthusiasts are unwilling to invest much in such times ruled by uncertainty. Still, with the growing popularity of the whole crypto industry and everyone’s childhood wish to own a pet, it is highly possible that Web3 pets will be this year’s go-to for many investors, especially while everyone is looking for new and innovative ways of earning crypto.
