X has rolled out Cashtags for crypto and stock data inside the app, turning ticker mentions and contract addresses into live asset discovery for iPhone users in the U.S. and Canada.
X rolls out Cashtags for crypto and stock discovery
In a post on April 14, 2026, X head of product Nikita Bier said the company had launched Cashtags, a feature that lets users search for or post a cashtag or contract address and receive matching stock or crypto suggestions inside X.
𝕏 has always been the best source of financial news for traders and investors. Billions of dollars are allocated every day based on what people read on Timeline.

The same launch post said that tapping a Cashtag opens a page that combines posts mentioning the asset with its price chart, keeping both market discussion and pricing context inside X.
Bitcoin traded at $73,969 around the rollout, giving a concrete benchmark for the kind of live asset data X is now surfacing in timeline interactions.
How the feature works and where X is limiting the rollout
The Block reported that the rollout is live only for iPhone users in the U.S. and Canada, leaving Android availability and wider expansion unconfirmed for now.
BeInCrypto reported that Canadian users also see a Wealthsimple trading button on Cashtag pages, creating a pilot path from data and discussion to execution that is not part of the current U.S. version.
Because Bier’s April 14, 2026 launch post centers on suggestions, posts, and charts, while BeInCrypto’s report limits the trading option to a Canada-only Wealthsimple pilot, the live product looks more like a finance discovery layer than X itself operating as a broker or exchange.
Why Cashtags matter for X’s bigger finance push
That narrower live scope stands out because Bier had already said on February 14, 2026 that Smart Cashtags were coming within weeks, so the move from that teaser to the April 14, 2026 launch suggests X chose to ship market data and conversation first, with trading kept to a limited pilot.
Bier’s launch post showed 3M Views at capture time, while the Fear & Greed Index stood at 23, labeled Extreme Fear; that mix helps explain why crypto users on X are a natural audience for Cashtags as they already follow ETF flow swings in Bitcoin ETFs Post $291M Outflow as Ether Adds $9M, policy-driven ETH moves in Ethereum Price Bounces on SEC DeFi Clarity as Bulls Eye $3,000, and tokenization experiments in XRP News: Ripple, Kyobo Test Korea Bond Settlement across the same feed.
Taken together, Bier’s April 14, 2026 announcement, BeInCrypto’s reporting on the Canada-only Wealthsimple path, and Bier’s February 14, 2026 roadmap teaser show X is building the financial data layer first and leaving any broader trading ambition for a later stage.
