Cardano’s Daedalus Wallet Updated Ahead of Shelley Testnet Launch

Cardano

Cardano’s Daedalus wallet is now live on the Cardano mainnet, following a recent update that will see the wallet get a facelift. According to the announcement, the update happens shortly before the official launch of the Shelley incentivized testnet. The updated Daedalus wallet comes with new components, which include an integrated newsfeed and an improved user interface.

Cardano Progress in the past weeks

In the past weeks, Cardano has been making progress from new projects and collaborations to getting ready for Shelley’s incentivized testnet. Upgrading the Daedalus wallet is now the latest update on the network.

On October 31, Cardano released the upgraded wallet version 0.15.0, which comes with new and “important” changes. According to information published on their blog, Cardano stated that the inclusion of a newsfeed was the main change on the wallet.

Once launched, the new version of the Daedalus wallet will enable users to access four different types of news on the latest developments in the crypto space, delivered through the wallet. The new wallet also comes with a recovery-phrase verification system, which will notify users if their recovery phrase stays for a long period before verification.

A User-friendly Daedalus Wallet

Overall, the new features are intended to make the Daedalus more user-friendly by fixing the problems noted in the previous version of the wallet. The 0.15.0 version comes with improved checks, especially on the hard drive space. For instance, it has transparent scroll bars for creating space as well as repositioned icons to help with clipboard copying and external linking.

Japanese Users Left Out

Despite the improvements, the new version of the wallet leaves out Japanese users, who will not be able to redeem their ADA-presale vouchers directly from the wallet interface.

These changes, which target mainly user experience, come just shortly before Cardano launches its Shelley’s incentivized testnet. With the new changes in place, many users are expected to move their ADA coins to the new Daedalus wallet in readiness for the network snapshot. Earlier in October, the Cardano team stated that the snapshot was ideal in verifying the state of the network before users transfer their ADA funds to the testnet.
