The “world’s first secure mail service with automatic encryption“- Tutanota added a cryptocurrency donation option.

The accepted cryptocurrencies were chosen following a survey. The company mentioned in its blog post that it accepts new suggestions, pointing out that:

Over the past few years, we came to realize that there is not only a demand for enabling Bitcoin payments but for other currencies as well.”

It only supports donation in cryptocurrency

Currently, the company only supports donations in the form of cryptocurrency while tests new solutions to integrate an automatic crypto transaction processing system. As abovementioned, Tutanota intends in the near future to accept crypto payments for its premium services.

We at Tutanota have always been in support for cryptocurrencies because we welcome the idea of a decentralized payment method that works independent of centralized payment processors such as banks or credit card institutions,” the post cites.

The services offered by Tutanota are mainly dedicated to individuals with “sensitive activities” like journalists and human rights activists. The German company wanted to offer them an extra level of protection, by creating an anonymous environment to manage online payments.

Tutanota has announced about its plans of adding crypto payments since last year, but due to the multitude of operations, they have postponed the project. The company’s services are available both on web and mobile. The system automatically protects email content, the contacts, and even the attached files.
